Hammock is a platform for contemporary writing from the South Asia and beyond. We focus on new, unique and thoughtful stories that go beyond the obvious.
Since 2023, we’ve published short stories, novel excerpts, book lists and recommendations, personal essays, cultural pieces and more. Our aim is to discover the best new
writing from the subcontinent, curate what struggles to
find space in the world, and shape a more robust literary culture.
In 2026, we launched our first print anthology, The City.
We will be curating and delivering more anthologies
every quarter (approximately).

We are open to submissions from anyone, all year round. As a small team, response times can vary greatly, but we aim to respond to them within 9 to 12 weeks. International submissions are welcome, but there should be some relation or topical relevance to South Asia, however tangential.
